Daruvala scores P7 in Bahrain FIA F2 qualifying

R01 - Bahrain - FIA Formula 2 Qualifying Report

Jehan Daruvala was seventh fastest in the opening qualifying session for the FIA Formula 2 Championship at Bahrain International Circuit. The Indian fought back to the top-10 in his final lap and showed potential for an even more impressive result in his first Formula 2 start for PREMA Racing.

P7 will provide Daruvala with a promising starting position in both the weekend's races as Race 1 will feature a reverse top-10 grid.

On the other hand, Norwegian Dennis Hauger paid the price of inexperience at his first qualifying run in the series coming from Formula 3. Hauger showed good potential as well, but could not put it together as he learns the ropes of the challenging F2 series.

PREMA Racing's Red Bull Junior drivers will be now be focusing on maximizing the results over the weekend.

Dennis Hauger
"Not the best qualifying. I would have been at least into the top-10 in the last push if I didn't make a couple of mistakes that put me in a worse position for the weekend in terms of the reverse grid. It is a bit of a shame. I think I was just a few hundreds away from Jehan before that so at least the driving itself was not looking too bad in that sense. Now we have to shape up and focus on the races where a lot of things can happen. The race pace was looking good in testing, we need to keep our head down and focus on that."

Jehan Daruvala
"It wasn't a too bad qualy overall to start with, I made a bit of a mistake in the first lap of my second run. We definitely had the potential to be in the top-3. However, it is what it is. We have good grid positions for both races to go and score as many points as we can."
