R02 - Jeddah - FIA Formula 2 Race Preview

PREMA Racing back to Jeddah Corniche Circuit

R02 - Jeddah - FIA Formula 2 Race Preview

The FIA Formula 2 Championship is already set for its second event of 2022. One week after the season opener in Bahrain, PREMA Racing will stay in the Middle East for a welcomed return to Jeddah Corniche Circuit. The Saudi Arabian course is one of the fastest of its kind and was home to PREMA's Team Championship celebrations in late 2021. Coming from its first podium finish of the year in a generally challenging weekend, the team hopes to put up a high-profile showing with the Red Bull Junior pairing of Jehan Daruvala and Dennis Hauger.

The Indian delivered a brilliant start in Race 1 at Sakhir and went on to claim second place, but faced contact damage in the following Feature Race, which took him out of the points. On the other hand, the Norwegian didn't have an easy qualifying, and a pit issue meant that he couldn't finish Race 2.

The 6.174 km venue built in the Red Sea port city of Jeddah, mainly a street course with the addition of permanent sections, is designed to allow bold moves, but while fighting is expected, qualifying will be equally important to gain a forward starting spot and avoid potential troubles.

Rene Rosin - Team Principal

"We have some good memories of Jeddah and we are delighted to be back racing there again. In round 1, we showed great pace but the execution wasn't optimall and that is the goal for this weekend. Qualifying is especially important in Formula 2 and at Jeddah because while it's possible to pull aggressive moves, they always carry risks for everyone around. We need to start performing right away."
