R02 - Imola - FIA Formula 3 Race Preview

FIA F3 goes back underway at Imola

R02 - Imola - FIA Formula 3 Race Preview

PREMA Racing is set for the second round of the FIA Formula 3 Championship this weekend, going back to European soil after the Bahrain opener. The event will be held at the Imola venue, not far away from the team's headquarters. The tough 4.9-kilometer track is well known by the team from the junior ranks, but weather might get in the way, with heavy rain on the forecast for Friday and variable conditions on the menu for the rest of the weekend.

The team will be fielding its three-driver line-up with good confidence coming from two podium finishes at the Sakhir Venue. Currently second in the driver championship, Arthur Leclerc came close to victory in the Feature Race at Sakhir and kept up the pace in last week's Barcelona test.

Not far from him, fellow Ferrari Driver Academy member Ollie Bearman has high hopes. The British racer provided a stunning result in round 1, delivering a podium finish in his first Formula 3 race straight from F4, and also went extremely close to bringing home a win.

Red Bull Junior driver Jak Crawford, who had his weekend jeopardized by a qualifying issue and was further hampered by contact in race 1, is hoping for a prompt rebound in Italy, building on his competitive all-around pace.

Rene Rosin - Team Principal

"I think we showed good potential in Bahrain although it wasn't an easy weekend. Back on home soil at Imola, we will try to take all the positives from last week's test and bring home good points with all three drivers. It will all start by qualifying well, and then I'm sure the rest will come quite naturally."
