R02 Imola - European Le Mans Series Race Preview

PREMA back on home soil, Colombo to continue ELMS run

R02 Imola - European Le Mans Series Race Preview

The second round of the 2022 European Le Mans Series will finally see PREMA race with its brand-new endurance program in its home country at Imola.

Coming from a ground-breaking victory in the opening event at Circuit Paul Ricard, the team will be back for the second four-hour race of the ELMS season on a track that the team knows well from single-seaters. Actually, PREMA already secured victories at Imola in multiple championships in 2022.

The goal at the legendary track of Emilia Romagna will be to keep the momentum and maximize the available experience and know-how. The 4.9-kilometer layout usually highlights driving skills with fast corners, elevation changes, and uncompromising runoff areas.

Speaking of driving talent, the trio of Louis Delétraz, Ferdinand Habsburg and Lorenzo Colombo will try to repeat their previous performance. The Swissman will continue in his demanding season as he will make his fourth race start in five weeks, while the Austrian will be back from a podium finish in the WEC Spa event to continue his double campaign.

Unfortunately, Juan Manuel Correa, who was set to make his return with the team this season, will not be part of the Imola line-up. The 22-year-old Ecuadorian-American is still recovering from a foot injury and will have to miss the event. FIA WEC regular Colombo will be back into the cockpit after his winning debut on French soil, aiming for more success and preparation ahead of the upcoming 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Rene Rosin - Team Principal
"We are delighted to bring our new racing project to Imola, a place we always enjoy and featuring a rich history that we deeply respect. Since we had plenty of running and success there, we will try to carry over as many useful information as possible from our single-seater experience, while carrying over the improvement. On the other hand, we are deeply saddened by not having JM in the car as we were so looking forward to working with him again. On the other hand, Lorenzo already showed that he's a valuable replacement, and will again provide consistency ahead of Le Mans, which will be our following destination.
