R03 Monaco - FRECA Race Preview

PREMA Racing to carry successful momentum to Monte Carlo

R03 Monaco - FRECA Race Preview

The Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine is heading back to one of its most iconic destinations this weekend. The French manufacturer's junior championship will be running at the famous Monte Carlo Grand Prix Circuit, with PREMA Racing and the other teams racing as a support for the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Monaco. The weekend will feature a more compact schedule, with only one, 2-group qualifying session setting the starting grid for both races, one on Saturday and one on Sunday.

The legendary 3.3-kilometer venue flows around the streets of the principality with tight and twisty corners and world-known sightseeings like the tunnel, the casino and the swimming pool complex. Championship leader Dino Beganovic, who achieved two wins in the first two events, will be running there for the second time. The 18-year-old Swede competed at Monte Carlo in 2021, learning the ropes of street racing there.

Paul Aron laid down an impressive performance last year, claiming one podium finish, and laying second in the championship, the 18-year-old Estonian is determined to chase more success and trim the gap towards the front.

Sebastian Montoya and Hamda Al Qubaisi will be making their Monte Carlo and street racing debut. The Colombian-American (17) has got three rookie wins to his name so far, and he is hoping to quickly boost his experience.

Al Qubaisi will make another step of her professional career as well, the 19-year-old Emirati female racer making an anticipated debut on one of the most outstanding and history-filled venues in motor sports.

Rene Rosin - Team Principal

"We had a really positive  start of the season, and we clearly want to continue that form at Monte Carlo. It's an incredibly trick racetrack especially for the drivers that are rookies. By having Paul and Dino in such great shape, we hope they will be a key resource also in moving our group forward both driving wise and in terms of preparation. We cannot wait to go on-track as it's a sensational destination, and I'm excited for the outstanding experience that lies ahead."
