R04 Paul Ricard - FRECA Race Preview

PREMA aims to keep momentum on French venue

R04 Paul Ricard - FRECA Race Preview

PREMA Racing will continue its journey in the 2022 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine this weekend at Circuit Paul Ricard. The venue, located in southern France, will be home to round four just one week after the previous event at Monte Carlo.

The team has experienced a positive form in the opening part of the season, having claimed four combined wins. Swede Dino Beganovic has made the most out of his chances so far. The 18-year-old Ferrari Driver Academy racer never finished worse than second on race day, claiming three wins and three P2 finishes. As a result, he is leading the driver standings with a comfortable margin.

Paul Aron also had his taste of victory early this season. The Mercedes-AMG backed Estonian showed outstanding speed but faced a troubled weekend at Monte Carlo and is determined to bounce back to winning form.

Colombian-American Sebastian Montoya is also set to get back in contention. The 17-year-old rookie has two class wins to his name and outstanding overall finishes as well. Having increased his experience in Monte Carlo, he looks forward to reaping the benefits on French soil.

Last but not least, Hamda Al Qubaisi was particularly impacted by the Monte Carlo format which gave her little track time in preparation for one of the most challenging events of the year. She will benefit from preseason testing at Paul Ricard, and from her prior knowledge of the venue, to pick up the pace and use her full potential.

Rene Rosin - Team Principal
"It feels great to be back straight away after Monte Carlo. We did well in the first part of the season and at Paul Ricard, our goal will be to be in contention with all our drivers. Beganovic is definitely in a great position with three wins, but Aron showed some serious speed, and we expect him to bounce back from a tough weekend. We also expect Montoya to fight for the rookie honors and some good positions overall, and the same goes for Hamda. They are both running on a circuit that they know well, and having tested here before the season, they have what they need to maximize the situation.
