R04 Le Mans - FIA WEC Collective Test Preview

The centenary edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans is set to go underway, and PREMA is already deep in the preparations for the upcoming challenge, beginning with the collective test day that anticipates practice and qualifying.

The team will be fielding two cars for the first time at the classic event and has already enjoyed a fair share of the historical celebrations in the public scrutineering, the famed Pesage in Place de la République in Le Mans. In addition, the #63 Oreca LMP2 car took part in a stunning parade between the city streets, driven by home hero Doriane Pin.

The 19-year-old Iron Dame has received massive crowd support as she achieves her lifelong dream of competing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Formula 1 veteran Daniil Kvyat, making his first start in the competition, has enjoyed the pre-race activity as well, while Mirko Bortolotti, who is competing in the 1000 kilometers of Circuit Paul Ricard today, will join them on Sunday from the test.

The #9 crew of Filip Ugran and Bent Viscaal successfully took part in the first activities of the 2023 edition. The Romanian, at his first Le Mans, is looking to discover the secrets of the track, while the Dutchman will return after his 2022 debut. The driving trio will feature Juan Manuel Correa, who is set for an eventful Sunday.

The Ecuadorian-American will enter the Barcelona FIA Formula 2 Feature Race at 11:25, before travelling to Le Mans in time to complete the mandatory 10 laps of running for Silver-rated drivers.

The cars will have six hours on Sunday, split into two three-hour sessions at 10:00 and 15:30.

Rene Rosin - Team Principal
"We are incredibly excited for this event. Last year, making our debut in such a challenging competition, we finished on the podium, and we want to build on that performance in a year that already had some promise. We are entering a 24-hour race for the first time with two cars, so it will be especially tricky, but as always, we ramped up our preparations and we feel we are in a good place. To make it even more special, it's the centenary edition, so there will be even more participation and passion from everyone. It's a once in a lifetime experience, we want to make the most out of it from every point of view!"
