PREMA Racing, Bearman take stunning Feature Race Win at Monza

R12 Monza - FIA Formula 2 Race 2 Report

Ollie Bearman delivered the fourth win of his outstanding rookie FIA Formula 2 season, and probably one of his most exciting, today in the Feature Race at Monza. The 18-year-old British racer started from P2 and took the lead at the start. He then executed every lap to perfection, mastering multiple safety car re-starts and the pit-stop situations.

For the Ferrari Driver Academy Racer it was a superb performance in front of the PREMA fans, and a good step forward in terms of his championship position. It was the eighth win of the year for PREMA, with now both drivers having four wins each to their credit.

Unfortunately, teammate Frederik Vesti had another tough race as he was pushed wide on lap 1 at the Roggia complex. The Danish driver had pulled a perfect start from P8, and was quickly moving towards the front. Unfortunately, the incident forced him to retire. While today’s result was a tough blow, he is still fully in the hunt for the title ahead of the Abu Dhabi finale at the end of November.

#7 FREDERIK VESTI

"It was a devastating feeling to end the race like that on lap one. I had a really good start from P8 and got up to P5. I took the chance to overtake Stanek and he completely ran me off the track, so it was done before T6. Tough way to end the weekend, nothing more to say than that. We will come back to Abu Dhabi with a lot of energy. I'll do my best to fight back."

#8 OLLIE BEARMAN

"What a race! P1 in the home race and I'm so so happy! The team gave me such a nice car today, and it was just mega! It was also tough, especially with all the safety car restarts, but we managed well. So nice to take that victory!"
