PREMA heads to legendary Spa-Francorchamps Circuit
PREMA Racing will complete its busy summer stint this weekend at Spa-Francorchamps, as the FIA Formula 2 Championship enters Round 10 of 2024 at what is arguably its most coveted destination. The legendary 7-kilometer circuit has been home to many epic races in the past and will welcome the team before heading into the August break.
Coming from a stunning Feature Race win at Hungaroring, the first of the year for the team, Kimi Antonelli showed impressive progress as he continues his rookie season in the series. The Italian has moved to sixth place in the standings and is looking for additional steps to take before lining up for the final four-race stint of the season. Ollie Bearman has also showed pace in Hungary, and is determined to put up a positive showing on one of the world's most demanding racetracks, one where he had good experience including a FIA F3 win.
With technical challenges and a tough layout, Spa-Francorchamps requires a multi-faceted approach, with weather concerns always to be taken into account. For the weekend, tyre choice will be on the soft side of the spectrum. Series supplier Pirelli will bring the P-Zero Yellow Medium as the Prime choice, and the P-Zero Red Soft as the Option.
RENÉ ROSIN - Team Principal
"The one at Spa-Francorchamps is a really important event for sheer complexity and for the moment in the season. We are lining up in Belgium in a leading position in the standings, but one weekend, especially this one, might change everything. We know what we have, but we need to maximize every single detail from the first instant, deliver in qualifying, and execute in the races."
