PREMA pushes through tight and challenging Spa qualifying

R09 Spa-Francorchamps - FIA Formula 3 Qualifying Report

PREMA Racing completed another challenging Qualifying today at Spa-Francorchamps as the FIA Formula 3 Championship delivered a tight and competitive session at the historical 7-kilometer venue.

Gabriele Minì and Dino Beganovic navigated their way through traffic and managed to complete the session in P11 and P12 respectively, with a bit of pace still missing compared to the expectations. They will have a chance to bounce back in the reverse-grid Race 1, where Beganovic will start from P1, with Minì on his side.

Arvid Lindblad was forced to settle with a disappointing P27. Driving for the first time in the dry at Spa-Francorchamps with the FIA F3 car, Lindblad had his fastest lap deleted for track limits at the exit of Pouhon. On a track that offers relatively solid chances for overtaking, he will be aiming for a double comeback drive.

#1 DINO BEGANOVIC

"Tough session. We had a decent first run, then we rushed out again to make a lap together with the others. Luckily I had a good position, and I'm also lucky to be on the right side of the starting grid for the weekend. We didn't have everything put together today, a bit of pace but also confidence in the car was not there. The weekend is still long, we can have a good race tomorrow and on Sunday as well. There are points to grab and we look forward to what we can improve."

#2 GABRIELE MINÌ

"It has been a very chaotic qualifying, with a lot of traffic, we managed to set a decent lap time with the first set. We were there in the top 5, which is where we want to be. I did a decent lap with the second set as well, no mistakes made, a clean lap. We were missing a bit of pace. It's still good to be in the top 12. Tomorrow we will have at least a great opportunity for the reverse-grid race to gain some points, starting from the front row. We need to work hard to find the last bit of pace we were missing today in order to try and come back on Sunday."

#3 ARVID LINDBLAD

"It was a very difficult session with FP being on the wet and going straight to qualy and three laps only. The first run was quite slow, but we understood the conditions well and made a great step for the last lap. I think I did a good job, I extracted quite a lot from the car even though there was something left, it was a good lap. Unfortunately, it was deleted for track limits in T10. We now need to focus and try what we can in the races."
