PREMA Racing claims P6, P8 in Monza Formula 2 Qualifying
PREMA Racing posted a double top-10 position in qualifying for the FIA Formula 2 Championship at Monza. As always, the session was a tricky one at the Italian Grand Prix venue with slipstreams and traffic coming into play.
Kimi Antonelli delivered a positive performance in P6 despite coming from a heavy crash in FP1 for the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix. The Italian got to an early lead although red flags forced the cars to go back to the pits. In the final attempt, which meant the drivers had basically only one lap to perform, Antonelli secured a row 3 starting spot for the Feature Race.
Ollie Bearman showed great potential and while he was unable to put a perfect lap together, he finished the session in P8, laying down promise for the two races.
Is it worth mentioning that both Antonelli and Bearman will have to serve penalties at the start of the Sprint Race before retaining their qualifying positions for the Feature Race. Antonelli will drop 10 spots, while Bearman will lose five.
#3 - Ollie Bearman
"A bit of a tough qualifying today, a messy session like it always is in Monza. In the end, we got only one lap and it wasn't the best. The car felt good today though, we'll try to do as best as we can for the races."
#4 - Kimi Antonelli
"Qualifying is complete, and it was a pretty messy one, but I was quite happy about how I got back into the rhythm. In the end, it was positive, and we secured a good position for the Feature Race. The car felt good and I'm happy about it.”
