Camara, PREMA sweep FRECA titles in Barcelona
PREMA Racing experienced a sensational weekend at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Lining up at the Spanish Grand Prix venue with a sizeable championship advantage for the penultimate round of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine, the team sealed a double title in the series for the third consecutive time after the ones achieved in 2022 and 2023.
While James Wharton posted two pole positions and converted them into amazing victories with dominant runs, Rafael Camara secured P3 and P4 in the two races respectively to clinch the 2024 Driver Championship with two races to spare. The Brazilian, a Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy member, took his 10th podium finish this year in addition to the six wins achieved so far.
The double podium on Saturday enabled PREMA to mathematically land the Team Championship after Race 1, which highlighted the year-round overall effort.
Bouncing back from a DNF in Race 1, Ugo Ugochukwu was able to break into the points zone, and the American showed promising form ahead of the series finale at Monza.

"After a tough Race 1, we put up a good recovery in Race 2. Qualifying didn't go to plan and that put us on a back foot for the race, where we started back in P17. I had a great start, and I got through the early crashes. I made my way up and I finished in P9. We are looking at what we can do better, but we made a good recovery."

"I'm just very very happy, and I think it will take some time to realize what happened today! It wouldn't have been possible without the team and I thank everyone at PREMA, especially Emeric, my engineer, and Alberto and Ale my mechanics. I enjoyed every single moment with them. This is what we have been working for all season. The most important aspect of the year was our consistency, we worked really hard on that and it paid off."

"It was a perfect weekend, two wins and two poles is the maximum we could do. The car was amazing all weekend, and I cannot thank PREMA enough as I wouldn't be here without the team. I thank everybody here at the track and everyone back at the factory, my engineer and mechanics. We now go to Monza to get more wins to finish off the year."
