The 2025 FIA Formula 2 season will be going underway down under this weekend as the series lines up for its Albert Park opener in Melbourne.
On the temporary Australian track, PREMA Racing will be finally wrapping up its preparations, both at home and in testing, by fielding the all-new pairing of Sebastian Montoya and Gabriele Minì. Coming from a soaring season that saw both its 2024 drivers land F1 drives, the team has particularly focused on maximizing its package and is looking for a smooth start in Round 1.
Montoya will be returning to PREMA after competing with the team in Formula Regional and will drive the #9 car. The 19-year-old is making the step from FIA Formula 3. Minì, who was a runner-up in last year's F3 series, will be driving the #10 car. The 18-year-old Italian made his F2 debut last year, driving for PREMA in the Baku event. He already captured his maiden podium finish in his first series start.
The Australian event will provide the chance to put preparations into practice in a competitive environment on a challenging temporary circuit. For the 2025 start, championship supplier Pirelli opted for the P-Zero Yellow medium tyres as a Prime choice, and the P-Zero Purple supersoft tyres as the option.
RENÉ ROSIN - Team Principal
"We are looking forward to the new FIA Formula 2 season. We want to capitalize on the work we have done in 2024 and in the off-season to be competitive right away, even though Melbourne is definitely not what we can call a standard setting. We are working to maximize every aspect and deliver clean execution to support Sebastian and Gabriele in a pivotal season for them."
