PREMA Racing, Leon deliver top-5 overall run in Monaco

R04 Monte Carlo - FIA Formula 3 Qualifying Report

Noel León will start from P5 in the Monte Carlo FIA Formula 3 Feature Race after a solid performance in today's Qualifying session. The PREMA Racing Mexican was competitive throughout the first split group of cars and was even in P2 in the early phases.

As the pack kept improving, León kept a consistently improving pace which was enough to secure P3 in group and P3 overall.

Ugo Ugochukwu wrapped up the session in P7 of Group B with a good recovery from a small off in T1. Unfortunately, Brando Badoer also had a moment at St. Devote but the Italian lost the back of his racecar and impacted the barriers, damaging the front suspension.

After the red flag, only a few drivers improved. Ugochukwu wrapped up a 14 overall for both races, while Badoer will have to settle for a double P24.

#1 - Brando Badoer
"Qualifying over at Monte Carlo. It was good on the first two pushes, and I was building the pace progressively when I lost the car in the turn-in to T1 and went into the wall so I couldn't continue qualifying. It's a shame because the pace seemed to grow quite well."

#2 - Noel Leon
"Pretty solid session, we were quite fast since the beginning. We were just missing a bit of pace in the end to improve a bit. Overall, it's the best qualifying of the year, we are making it step by step from Imola, and P5 is a really positive result. Let's try to take all opportunities for the races and maximize our points for this weekend."

#3 - Ugo Ugochukwu
"A bit of a tricky session. Struggled overall for pace, and had a little moment in T1, which set us on a back foot. We still managed to get two push laps in the end but we struggled to improve."
