Noel León achieved a points finish today for PREMA Racing, as the FIA Formula 3 Championship went underway with a tight Sprint Race at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Despite starting just outside the reverse grid, Noel León had a brilliant start. In addition, he made the most of an early contact, which led to a safety car situation, to climb up to P8. He eventually rounded out the top 10 to score one point.
Ugo Ugochukwu also had a brilliant start and gained multiple spots to eventually claim P17, one spot in front of teammate and fellow McLaren Driver Development Programme racer Brando Badoer.
The team will have another chance at a comeback in tomorrow's Feature Race.
"Sprint Race done in Barcelona, and we just didn't have a competitive pace. We look forward to tomorrow to understand what to improve and put it all together."
"Sprint Race done. We scored a point that is really valuable after a decent race. We had a decent start, and managed from there. Let's keep working. We are still far from where we want, but tomorrow we have another opportunity to score points."
"We had a really good start, gained positions and lap 1 was great. Then we struggled a little bit for pace and fell back a little. I think we know what to improve in terms of race pace for tomorrow, and I will try to do the same, go forward in the race."
