PREMA Racing is heading back to the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine this weekend at Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, and as the series hits the undulating Austrian track to end its summer break for round 7, the team is set to welcome back a former regular alongside its full-season trio.
After competing with PREMA in Formula 4 in 2024, 17-year-old Jamaican-American racer Alex Powell will be joining Rashid Al Dhaheri, Freddie Slater, and Jack Beeton on track to make his Formula Regional debut. Powell, who is part of the Mercedes-AMG F1 Team Junior Programme, will compete as a wildcard.
Lining up in Austria with the lead of the driver championship, Freddie Slater is looking to build some momentum and expand the margin entering the final stint of the 2025 series, relying on the five wins and eight podiums achieved so far.
Rashid Al Dhaheri, who had a challenging time in the recent Imola round, will be trying to get back to the podium after showing that kind of potential throughout the season. The Emirati is currently eighth in points. Last but not least, Australian Jack Beeton faced some adverse fortunes lately and is aiming to get back to scoring points consistently like in the first part of the year. He will have good chances on a track renowned for its close packs and hard-fought races, featuring hard braking zones and a technical sequence of corners.
RENÉ ROSIN - Team Principal
"We are coming to Spielberg to continue showing the pace we have had so far and supporting our drivers' goals for the final part of the year. We have had remarkable results so far and we want to see Rashid, Freddie and Jack gain and maintain consistent momentum. On the other hand, we are delighted to welcome Alex back for this key career step, and we are proud to have him for his maiden FRECA race."
