PREMA Racing delivered another clean double recovery today in the FIA Formula 2 Feature Race at the Italian Grand Prix.
Gabriele Minì and Sebastian Montoya finished in P7 and P9, respectively. After a strong start, which saw them gain positions early.
The team executed a brilliant pit-stop where both car were serviced in succession, moving from options to primes, and set off for the long run to the finish.
Both Minì and Montoya were fully in contention in the top-10, but both were involved in contact in the tight battling situations that ensued. Despite carrying some damage, they both stayed in the fight, finishing with a double points finish.
As the series rounds out its European stint, another high-speed track awaits teams and drivers in Baku.
#9 SEBASTIAN MONTOYA
"It was a good race today, and I’m quite happy with it. We had a clear strategy, and I think we executed it well. We still need to review exactly what happened at the last Safety Car restart. I was carrying some damage after being hit from behind, which affected the floor of the car, so we were losing a bit of pace there.
Overall, I’m pleased to come away with points and to be back in the top 10. We showed good competitiveness, and it feels like we’re moving in the right direction, not just for me, but for the whole team, as we’re getting quicker and quicker. We’ll keep pushing. Now, I’m looking forward to Baku. It’s another fast circuit, and it should be an exciting challenge."
#10 GABRIELE MINÌ
"Another P7 today. We gained positions and I think we executed the strategy really well. Our pace on the option tyres was strong, and we managed them effectively. Unfortunately, we had some contact during one of the restarts, but we stayed in the fight. At one point we moved up to P6, though we just lacked a bit of pace to hold it. Towards the end I struggled with degradation and Dino got by, but overall, I feel P7 was the maximum we could achieve today and we made the most of our chances."
