PREMA Racing is heading back to the FIA Formula 2 Championship this weekend, making the trip to Baku Street Circuit for round 12 of 2025. It will be the tenth visit to Azerbaijan for the F1 support series, and PREMA is returning to a particularly friendly venue.
The team achieved multiple wins since its very first run at the track and is looking to continue the tradition this year with Gabriele Minì and Sebastian Montoya. The Italian made an early debut last year in Baku and took a podium finish in his first start. While he will be running there for the first time, Sebastian Montoya proved he's able to achieve impressive rookie results.
The track is renowned for its challenges, and features long straights and an extremely tight and twisty sector, uniting the character of a high-speed circuit to those of a hardcore street course. While passing there is not impossible, qualifying well is always crucial in FIA F2, and coming from some up and down experiences, the team will need to make a step to be up there from the beginning.
Baku is normally not a tyre degradation track. The choice made by series supplier Pirelli will be the softest with the P-Zero Red soft tyres as the prime choice and the P-Zero Purple supersofts as the option.
RENÉ ROSIN - Team Principal
"Baku is a unique circuit and it's always home to a challenging weekend from beginning to end. Nevertheless, we have always been competitive there, and we have proven that we can adapt to the situations that may arise here. Gabriele has already raced here, which will be a welcome plus, while Sebastian has been a quick learner, and there's no reason why he can't do well."
