PREMA, Montoya grab fifth place in Qatar Feature Race

R13 Lusail - FIA Formula 2 Race 2 Report

Sebastian Montoya posted another top-5 finish at Lusail International Circuit by delivering a solid run in the Feature Race for the FIA F2 Championship at the Qatar Grand Prix.

The Colombian started from P6 and kept his option tyres in check in the first part of the race. Switching to primes early and gaining one spot with strategy, he managed tyre degradation in a challenging stint, protecting fifth place until the finish.

Gabriele Minì started from the seventh row on the grid and made early gains, although the mid pack once again turned into a tight DRS train that didn't make for easy progress. The Italian stayed clear of mistakes but couldn’t get clear of the battle in the centre part of the group, and eventually finished in P13.

While the team prepares for the Abu Dhabi finale, everyone at PREMA wishes to congratulate Leonardo Fornaroli on winning the 2025 FIA F2 title.

#9 SEBASTIAN MONTOYA

"Top five in the Feature Race. I'm happy, but not really happy with the result because I think the podium was so close yet so far in the end, as we were missing a little bit. I think we made great progress throughout the weekend. We finished fourth and fifth in the race, so we got good points. That's what we need, we need just maximise what we have. We had a bit more pace yesterday. We need to analyse everything to understand why and be ready for the final race."

#10 GABRIELE MINÌ

"I had a decent start to gain a position, and once again we stayed there because it was a DRS train like yesterday and it was very difficult to overtake. We were missing a little bit of pace but it was a good step compared to yesterday. I think we could have got into the points with the strategy we had, but the safety car messed up things a bit for us as we didn't manage to catch the group and that ended our chances. We still tried new things and gained good information."
