PREMA Racing returns to action this weekend, and with FIA Formula 2 lining up for its series opener at Melbourne Park, the team is set for its return at the Australian Grand Prix.
A semi-permanent street track, Albert Park has more limited run-off and margin for error than a regular circuit, and provides high-pressure conditions on a fast, bumpy layout with evolving grip levels. Its mix of high-speed corners and changes of direction makes tyre management and qualifying performance especially decisive.
Sebastian Montoya is set for his second FIA F2 season with PREMA Racing after a positive rookie campaign that handed him multiple podiums. The Colombian-American is looking for a further step in the coming season.
Joining him on the grid, Mari Boya is set for his first foray in the series. However, the strong Spaniard has good experience from his F3 days at Albert Park and is in for a smooth learning curve. While all teams were impacted by the current travel restrictions across the Middle East, all team members have safely landed in Melbourne and are ready to go.
STEPHEN MITAS - TEAM PRINCIPAL & CEO
"It’s good to finally start the season after all the work that’s gone in over the winter. Everyone in the team has put a lot of effort into the preparation, so there’s a good level of motivation. Sebastian and Mari make a strong pairing and they both have experience at this track, which should help us get up to speed quickly. We feel we’re heading in the right direction and we’re looking forward to seeing how everything comes together once we’re on track."
