PREMA Racing showcased strong pace in the opening race of the FIA Formula 2 season at Albert Park. The Australian course provided fans and drivers with a hard-fought and spectacular run.
Sebastian Montoya started from P15 and quickly started to make up ground. Although he was pushed wide in turn 10, which cost him valuable time on lap 3, the Colombian-American steadily improved his position and was eventually able to secure a top-10 spot in P9.
Unfortunately, Mari Boya had to stop with just 10 laps on the board after he went into the gravel in turn 3. However, the Spaniard also showed great speed and has his sights set on tomorrow's Feature Race.
#11 - SEBASTIAN MONTOYA
"I'm really happy with the race and the speed. We were just unlucky with the track position, being pushed off early in the race and falling to last in the train. The pace was good though and we were able to overtake. I'm happy to continue with the race speed that we have. Now we need to understand exactly what we need to change for tomorrow as options will be quite difficult with the colder track temp. We need to make sure we maximize that and have a good race."
#12 - MARI BOYA
"The positive thing today is that the start and procedures today were good. The speed was really good and we were much quicker than the cars around. We need to find a bit more the feeling of when I can push or not, because what happened is similar to yesterday. We need to investigate it with the team but we have another race tomorrow and another chance to make our way up."
