The FIA Formula 2 Championship is the closest step to Formula 1, which evolved in 2017 from the GP2 Series.
Racing on F1 weekends, the series provides the drivers with the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of F1 teams, competing on some of the most challenging and renowned circuits in the world.
After the title achieved in GP2 Series with Pierre Gasly, PREMA Racing carried on its form in Formula 2 winning driver titles with Charles Leclerc, Mick Schumacher and Oscar Piastri. While Leclerc and Schumacher are now racing in Formula 1 for Scuderia Ferrari and Haas F1 Team respectively, Piastri joined Alpine F1 as a reserve driver. Other PREMA F2 graduates achieved remarkable success: Robert Shwartzman is covering Test Driver duties for Scuderia Ferrari, while Nyck De Vries went on to claim the Formula E World title.
The F2 Championship promises to deliver gripping on-track entertainment, pairing the best up-and-coming drivers in single-seater with the competitive and high-power F2 machinery.
The 2020 campaign saw the introduction of 18-inch Pirelli tyres ahead of F1, proving that F2 is the perfect training ground, not only for drivers, but also for technology.
