He moved to Renault Formula 1 in 2010, to score three podium finishes. Having to recover from a life-threatening rallying crash that happened in 2011, Kubica made his return to racing in 2013, winning the WRC 2 World Championship and moving to the main World Rally Championship for the following seasons. In late 2016 he returned to road racing, and in 2018 he got back to Formula 1 as a reserve driver for Williams in F1. In one of the biggest comebacks in racing history, he competed for Williams in the 2019 Formula 1 season and continued as a reserve driver for the Alfa Romeo Racing Orlen Team.
