Biography

Villeneuve started his racing career in touring cars in 1988, joining PREMA for his single-seater debut in 1989. He entered the Italian F3 Championship for three years, before moving to Japan and the USA. He was second in the Japanese F3 Championship, and third in the Toyota Atlantic series. His performance earned him a place in the IndyCar World Series. He scored six wins to claim the 1995 title and won the famed Indianapolis 500 in the same year. In 1996, he moved to Formula 1, finishing second in his maiden year and winning the World Championship afterward. He entered 185 Formula one races and later competed in World Endurance, NASCAR, Formula E, and Rallycross.
