Gabriele Tarquini

Biography

Gabriele Tarquini is considered one of the most accomplished touring car racers of all time. After driving for PREMA earlier in his career, he moved Formula 3000 and Formula 1, driving for Coloni, AGS and Fondmetal, struggling with underfunded operations, but it was touring cars that cemented his legacy. His maiden title came in 1994 in the famed BTCC championship for Alfa Romeo, and he also won an European title for the Italian manufacturer in 2003. He later joined Seat Sport, winning the World Touring Car Championship in 2009, and for Honda. In 2018, at 56 years of age, he captured his final World title driving for Hyundai. He was still highly-competitive when he retired from racing aged 58.
