R01 Mugello - Euro4 Championship Race Preview
PREMA Racing will continue its Formula 4 program this weekend by entering the inaugural round of the Euro4 Championship. The new series, created by the same promoter of the Italian Championship, ACI Sport, will feature a three-round calendar including traditional steps like Monza, Mugello, and a brand-new finale at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
The team will join the new series with its full-season line-up consisting of seven drivers, starting from Italian Championship leader Arvid Lindblad, who is chasing more success aboard the #23 car after delivering a powerful triple win at Monza.
Ugo Ugochukwu will be in the #3 car. The American, a McLaren Driver Development Programme-supported driver, is looking to bounce back to the win after a high-potential weekend at Monza saw him come short of victory.
Driving the #8 car, 15-year-old Finn Tuukka Taponen is also in search of a rebound coming from a challenging first part of the season. So far, the Ferrari Driver Academy racer also experienced back luck, which is hoping to get rid of at the-5.2 km Tuscan venue. Fellow FDA racer James Wharton aims to go back to his Spa-Francorchamps form in the Italian series. The 16-year-old Australian, in his second full Formula 4 season, can be a leading contender aboard the #13 car.
On the other side of the spectrum, 15-year-old Emirati rookie Rashid Al Dhaheri continues to increase his experience after making his first competitive steps in single-seaters only a few months ago. He will drive the #14 car. Another Ferrari Driver Academy racer, 16-year-old Brazilian Aurelia Nobels, will compete in the #16 car in an effort to continue her progress.
Last but not least, Nicola Lacorte will be in the #47 car. After taking one win at Imola, and being back to podium contention at Monza, he has positive expectations for another classic venue, only a few kilometers away from his hometown of Pisa.
Angelo Rosin - Team Principal
"This new championship is the ideal complement to our Italian Formula 4 Championship programme. It will provide drivers with the chance to learn more and gain mileage on some high-grade circuits including Monza, Mugello and Barcelona, tracks where they will often come back in the rest of their careers. We have showed great potential so far in the Italian series but we are still working to help our drivers to perform at the highest level."
