PREMA set for three-car 2024 FRECA campaign
The Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine is set for its 2024 start at Hockenheim, with PREMA Racing jumping back into action on the same track that handed it the teams' title in the 2023 finale.
The 2024 line-up will consist of three drivers, all coming from within the PREMA family. Rafael Camara will continue to compete in the series after a positive 2023 debut. The Brazilian, a Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy member, will drive the #5 car with the goal of building on last year's results, which included multiple podiums and wins.
Ugo Ugochukwu will be campaigning the #3 car. The American, who is part of the McLaren Driver Development Programme, will step up from Formula 4 after winning the 2023 Euro4 Championship and finishing second in the Italian F4 Championship.
Fellow rookie James Wharton will drive the #13 car. In 2023, the Australian won the Formula 4 UAE overall title and experienced a solid season which included several wins and second place in the Euro4 Championship.
The German 4.6-kilometer will kick off a 10-round season featuring a majority of active Formula 1 tracks to maximize learning opportunities for teams and driver
RENÉ ROSIN - TEAM PRINCIPAL
"We look forward to the 2024 FRECA season. We are coming from two very successful campaigns in 2022 and 2023, and while we know that it won't be easy to repeat the results we achieved so far, we worked extremely hard to make it happen. We have a good mix of drivers with great potential, so we think everything is in place for a positive season right from the start."
