PREMA, Pin victorious in rain-affected Miami weekend

R03 Miami - F1 Academy Race Report

Doriane Pin cruised to victory in Miami as the F1 Academy series lined up in Florida for round 3 of 2025. The weekend was impacted by adverse weather conditions which eventually forced to the postponement of Race 2, but Pin maximized the results by taking a win in the reverse-grid Race 1.

In qualifying, the rain started to fall early, meaning that there was only one possible lap to fight for pole and that led to heavy traffic. Pin took a valuable P3 result, which meant a P6 starting position for the opening race. The Frenchwoman moved to P2 in the opening stages and made a spectacular move for the lead on lap 5, never looking back and posting win number two of 2025.

Nina Gademann rebounded to P5 after a tough qualifying, while Tina Hausmann, who had secured P9 in the qualifying session, improved to P7 in the only race held around the Miami Grand Prix track.

The cars lined up under pouring rain for Race 2 but as the track and visibility conditions proved treacherous, every attempt to go underway proved futile forcing a postponement.

#3 - NINA GADEMAN
"Free practice started very strong in FP1 and we tried a lot of different things in FP2 driving style-wise. I managed to figure out the track quickly so we got up to P3, a strong result. In qualifying we were prepared to use a fresh set but at the last minute, we decided to go out on new ones, due to the rain expected to come mid-way through the session. We didn't scrub or warm them up on the way to the pitlane and as we went out, it started raining so we had a disadvantage, ending up P13. In Race 1, I made my way up to P5 by doing a lot of overtakes and being lucky that some drivers did not finish. I was really looking forward to going on-track on rain tyres for Race 2, but it was postponed."

#28 - DORIANE PIN
"It was a great weekend overall, with a good performance from the team and myself. I'm happy about the step that we have made and we were very close to taking the lead back. It's a shame that Race 2 was postponed because we could have finished the weekend at the top of the standings, but Race 1 was very positive and I'm happy to have taken my first reverse grid win. I enjoyed the battle a lot and I'm really looking forward to Montreal to perform there with a full push and full focus."

#78 - TINA HAUSMANN
"FP1 was really to get the rhythm back from driving, and we tried something new in FP2 to make steps forward for qualy. It was an interesting session because we only had a dry lap and after that, it started to rain a lot. In that lap, we faced a lot of traffic and had to make two overtakes, which put us into P9. We had the pace to get a good result, but not the position on track. Nothing we could do about it. In Race 1 we went up to P7 and learned a lot, but unfortunately, race 2 was postponed due to heavy rain. I like to race in the rain but it was just a bit too dangerous with the amount of rain. We try to learn and reflect as much as we can and look forward to Montreal. We can do a good job there. It was great to race in Miami. I really enjoyed the track and the support by so many fans around here."
