Slater takes win, championship lead for PREMA Racing

R03 Zandvoort - FRECA Race Report

PREMA Racing continued to carry its winning momentum in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine at the twisty Zandvoort Circuit in the Netherlands, where conditions were tricky and constantly changing.

British racer Freddie Slater delivered a blistering start from Row 2 in the opening race to take an early lead and sail to victory despite a double safety-car situation. In Race 2, he posted another podium finish with a solid run to P3, vaulting to the lead of the driver championship.

Despite a tough qualifying session on one of the most challenging tracks for overtaking, Rashid Al Dhaheri and Jack Beeton posted points finishes as they navigated their way among a tight-knit pack. Doriane Pin also faced difficult qualifying sessions, and with the tight and twisty track not helping her chances for recovery, she could only make limited progress in terms of position despite an improving pace.

The Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine will be back in July for round 4 at Hungaroring.

"First time in Zandvoort and it was quite an exciting weekend with a lot of different conditions that tested us. I feel the performance definitely isn't what we wanted but there are a lot of things we can learn from and use to be stronger in Budapest."

"A positive weekend, it's nice to finish two races for once unlike in the first two rounds. The pace has been pretty decent in Zandvoort. I think we maximized everything we had and did a really good job executing it. Massive thank you to PREMA, looking forward to being back to Hungaroring.

"Challenging weekend in Zandvoort, and one of the toughest in my career so far. We were improving over the weekend, but qualifying is key and there aren't many overtaking chances at Zandvoort. Qualifying was not very good for us on both days, and we struggled in the races. There is a lot to learn and for sure, it's going to be better for the next round. We are going to work hard to come back more competitive and fight for something good."

#45 - Jack Beeton
"It was a difficult weekend. We weren't fast the whole time. Mixed conditions made it tricky. I was looking forward to the weekend on a very nice track, but we were not fast enough so we really couldn't do anything. Let's pick ourselves up and on to Hungaroring in a few weeks."
