PREMA Racing put together a solid qualifing session at Baku Street Circuit as the team returned to a venue that gave it remarkable success in the past. The qualifying session in Azerbaijan was disrupted by three red flags, and especially the last two impacted on the final results. Drivers had no chance to improve on their second set of tyres, and the session were called to an early end.
Returning to Baku after a strong debut last year, Gabriele Minì laid down a quick lap early in the session and eventually grabbed third place in a convincing performance that highlighted good potential for the rest of the weekend.
Sebastian Montoya ended up with a positive top-10 at his first run on the tricky street course, making great improvements since the beginning of the weekend.
#9 SEBASTIAN MONTOYA
"Happy to be in the top-10 again, especially after the past couple of weekends we had. It is also a good step from FP. This is a really fun track, and I was looking forward to doing the last push lap. I was enjoying it on the supersoft tyres. We have good opportunities for both races. We will work for tomorrow and Sunday to see exactly what we are missing. On to the weekend!"
#10 GABRIELE MINÌ
"A pretty chaotic qualifying session. We got compromised in my first lap by a driver going off and coming back in front of me, but we saved it quite well. It's a bit of a shame, but we're still up there. It was just a clean lap, nothing crazy. In the last push, we were in a really, really good lap, but we got a red flag quite quickly. Nevertheless, we are quite a bit up. This is the first track where I have already raced, and I enjoy street circuits quite a lot. We see what we can do now in the races."
