PREMA readies for busy Italian Formula 4 finale

R07 Misano - Italian F4 Race Preview

PREMA Racing is set for a busy weekend as the Italian Formula 4 Championship comes to its conclusion at Misano. The team will be competing at the same venue where the series started back in May, the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, and will do so with the goal of securing the Driver and Rookie titles after clinching the Team Championship with one round to go at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

The series will feature a record five races over the weekend. In addition to the four races for round seven, with the large field leading to three heat races and a final, there will be a re-run of Race 2 at Imola, which was suspended after an early crash.

Japanese-Slovakian racer Kean Nakamura-Berta is close to securing the crown among drivers as he got one win and a second place in Barcelona, while the Rookie Trophy, which hasn’t yet found its owner, is actually an all-PREMA affair between Salim Hanna and Newman Chi. The Colombian is also aiming for his first overall win after a second place in Spain.

Sebastian Wheldon, who delivered one win at Barcelona and has been a capable contender all year, wants to continue affirming his race-winning status and improving his position before going all out in the Euro 4 finale at Monza. On the other hand, Oleksandr Bondarev is eager to repeat the positive performance of his mid-season, while Andrea Dupe, who is getting quicker and quicker, is ready for an additional step forward to continue improving his marks.

ANGELO ROSIN - Team Founder

"We are lining up at Misano in a good position in the Italian Formula 4 standings and we are there to complete the job as soon as possible after achieving the teams' title at Barcelona. It will be an extremely challenging weekend with five races including the re-run from Imola. There will be a lot of work to do for the team and drivers alike. Being competitive since the very first call will help us to achieve consistent result and avoid potentially snowballing issues with sessions being so close together. For sure it will be interesting to see the weekend unfold."
