PREMA lands in Qatar to begin final 2025 F2 stint

R13 Qatar - FIA Formula 2 Race Preview

Coming from a long break that followed a challenging round in Baku, the FIA Formula 2 Championship will be back competing in the Middle East for its penultimate round of the season at Lusail International Circuit.

PREMA Racing is looking to add solid results to its 2025 resume this weekend as it returns to the venue after claiming one win last year. Located half an hour north of Doha, the track features medium-fast corners that provide a lot of lateral energy. In addition, hot weather is expected with temperatures in excess of 25 degrees Celsius.

The rookie combo of Sebastian Montoya and Gabriele Minì is set for another first time at the Qatari circuit and will have the chance to set up some momentum to be taken into the Abu Dhabi finale. The Colombian-American and the Italian achieved podium finishes this year and are looking for a solid qualifying to make a difference in the races.

Considering the challenges and tyre deg expected, series tyre supplier Pirelli has selected the P-Zero Hard tyres as the Prime choice, with the Red Soft as the option, which might provide a shakeup come the Feature Race which, unlike qualifying and the Sprint Race, will be held in full daylight.

RENÉ ROSIN - Team Principal

"It's great to finally be back racing and to have more opportunities to showcase the potential and progress we feel we have achieved in the two final rounds of the year. Qatar will be challenging as it's going to be new for both drivers, plus, tyre strategy and management is normally quite important in Lusail. Qualifying will be pivotal as usual, so our full focus is on that, to build a good starting point for the races."
