PREMA Racing delivered a solid qualifying performance in Lusail as the FIA Formula 2 Championship got underway in Qatar for its penultimate round of the season.
Capping an impressive session, Sebastian Montoya posted the sixth fastest lap of the day after putting up a constant improvement since Practice. The Colombian-American will take off from the second row of tomorrow's Sprint Race and from P6 in Sunday's Feature Race.
Gabriele Minì had a strong session start and looked set for a positive result as well as the team globally made steps from the tough earlier session. A slight mistake in his final push lap jeopardized his result, and the Italian had to settle for P14, having to start both races from the seventh row of the grid.

This track is awesome and this morning when I drove on it for the first time, it was kind of a shock after not driving for two months. It was just a big wow. I want to thank the team for making a big step from FP The last couple of months have been quite a lot of work. I'm happy and looking forward to the races, making sure we maximize the speed again, get some good points and onto the next!"

"Just finished the qualifying session. We started pretty well and we were always among the top eight until the last lap. I think the team did a really good job to recover after a very challenging FP but it was just a mistake on my part on the final push. I lost quite a lot, and it's a big shame because we could have been in the top six quite easily. Unfortunately, it will be P14 for both races."
