PREMA Racing secured a double points finish today in a tricky wet race at Miami International Autodrome. Coming from a challenging qualifying session and Sprint Race, the team rebounded to take home two top-10 finishes, maximizing its potential in a hectic run.
The race was held in wet conditions due to strong early showers that even forced the organisers to bring the starting time forward. Both Mari Boya and Sebastian Montoya started well and stayed away from trouble. They were both able to take advantage of safety car situations to make their pit-stops.
Then, they mastered the re-starts and maximized their pace. Boya eventually finished in a strong P7, clinching his first points-paying result of the season, while Montoya achieved a top-10 finish for the third time out of four races this year.
FIA Formula 2 will stay in the American continent for another milestone. The series will be lining up for the first time at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal.
#11 - SEBASTIAN MONTOYA
"It has been the first time this weekend I can really smile. It's probably the worst pace we had all weekend, but I'm happy with the work we have done. For the future events, we need to make sure we have a little less drama. It's a good points finish. We deserved more but we can take what we can get after going from thinking I couldn't get to the start to getting points. It adds motivation to just keep working. Good bye Miami, head down for Canada."
#12 - MARI BOYA
"A good way to finish a hard weekend. There are many things we can learn from, and as always, the points are on Sunday. I think we maximized everything we possibly could and that's the difference from the previous days. We did all the basics well, performance is often nearly there, and we executed really well. Great job by the team and I want to congratulate them. I'm happy and looking forward to the rest of the season."
