PREMA Racing didn't secure the results the team was looking for as FIA Formula 2 Qualifying came to a close in Montreal. The team showed some promise in Free Practice, but with the tricky conditions and an incredibly tight pack, Sebastian Montoya and Mari Boya ended up in P20 and P22 respectively at the end of qualifying.
The session was disrupted by red flags, with late restarts shuffling the order around and traffic being a key variable. Montoya and Boya will now be looking for a rebound in race trim as the series gets underway today.

"Difficult day today. We did a lot of work since Miami and we were quite hopeful for the weekend. Today in free practice we ran into conditions that we were not expecting, but in qualifying we were sort of in the mix and fighting for the top ten. It was so close — three tenths would have been the difference between where we were and being in the top five. When it's this tight, the conditions are key, and sadly after some red flags, some difficult traffic management, et cetera, we didn't get the result we wanted. We think that the car is a lot better than this and we will keep fighting. I'm really happy with the work the engineers have been putting in and with how the team is pushing forward. It's not as easy as we'd like it to be, but the weekend is not over yet. Last time we got some points, this time we want to get a little bit more."

"Difficult day. I feel we didn't maximize anything, especially in the preparation. In free practice we started pretty off already and the jump into qualifying was too big. We needed to sort out many things, and the team did a good job fixing some, but the strategy in the last sector wasn't good enough so we couldn't lay down any competitive lap time. Still, there is a long weekend ahead. We will try to stay calm and maximize it."
