The FIA Formula 3 Championship will be back on track this weekend at arguably its most legendary venue, supporting the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix.
A core step on the ladder toward the pinnacle of motorsport, Formula 3 has always produced spectacular showings at Monte Carlo. PREMA Racing is looking forward to returning to action in such a unique setting after a long break that followed the eventful Melbourne opener.
James Wharton and Louis Sharp, who were involved in an unfortunate crash at their home event in Australia, will be in full shape. The Australian and the New Zealander already displayed positive form in a collective test at the Red Bull Ring, while Mexican José Garfias made solid gains and is ready for the challenges of Monte Carlo.
On a particularly tricky circuit, remarkably tight and unforgiving, qualifying will be essential. However, there have been surprises in the past, with the agile F3 machinery finding its way through the pack. Aggression is not out of the equation, but precision will be paramount for teams and drivers to execute the weekend, even more so with the logistical constraints.
With 30 cars on the entry list, traffic management will be a factor even in a split qualifying session. Preparations will begin earlier than usual on Thursday with the Free Practice session. Qualifying will be on Friday, with one race each on Saturday and Sunday. Racing will conclude before noon and the Feature Race will get underway at 7:45 AM, adding yet another variable to a demanding weekend.
Stephen Mitas - Team Principal & CEO
“Returning to Monte Carlo always brings a unique energy, and after a long break, the team is eager to get back on track in one of the most demanding environments in junior racing. Monaco rewards confidence, discipline, and commitment while leaving no margin for error. Preparation and execution will be especially important across the weekend. There is also a strong sense of determination within the group following the opening round, when James and Louis were both involved in an unfortunate incident. Monte Carlo presents an opportunity to reset, fight back, and show the character and resilience of this team. Everyone is highly motivated for the challenge ahead.”
