PREMA Racing returns on track as the reigning F2 Champion

R01 - Bahrain - FIA Formula 2 Race Preview

PREMA Racing is set to resume its FIA Formula 2 Championship operations at Sakhir this weekend, as the Bahrain desert venue is hosting the first round of the 2022 schedule.

Lining up as the reigning champion, the team will field two cars for Red Bull Junior Drivers Dennis Hauger and Jehan Daruvala. The 18-year-old Norwegian comes from a dominating FIA Formula 3 campaign in 2021 and will be a rookie to the series, with the goal of making positive steps in his debut. On the other hand, the 23-year-old Indian is bracing for his third F2 season after taking two wins last season.

Bahrain will mark the return to a two-race format for FIA Formula 2. A Sprint Race will be held on Saturday, and the grid will be determined by qualifying with the top-10 finishing drivers in reverse order. The qualifying classification will set the grid for the Feature Race on Sunday.

Coming from a consistent run of form in pre-season testing and from a profitable pre-season preparation, the team is looking forward to the start of the new campaign at the state-of-the-art 5.4-kilometer Sakhir venue.

Rene Rosin

"We are delighted to start the season, as FIA Formula 2 gave so many satisfactions in the past. We need to keep pushing because with every year our contenders become more determined to beat us and the expectations are always very high. We are sticking with our work ethics, and we continue to analyze whatever we can improve in any area. I think we have a great talent pool both on track and at the pitbox. We look forward to seeing what Dennis and Jehan will accomplish throughout the season."
