Prema ORLEN Team gains access to Le Mans Hyperpole session

R03 - Le Mans - FIA WEC Qualifying Practice Report

Prema ORLEN Team gained access to the Hyperpole session at the 2022 Le Mans 24 Hours.

The team lined up for the first practice at Circuit de la Sarthe today with Robert Kubica, Louis Delétraz, and Lorenzo Colombo taking turns behind the wheel of the #9 Oreca 07 LMP2-class racecar.

The morning session saw the team focus on the car set-up. The 37-year-old Pole set the third fastest lap of FP1 with consistent performance, while Colombo also had a valuable chunk of driving time. The 21-year-old Italian, making his first Le Mans start, successfully increased his experience level as he keeps climbing his learning curve.

Delétraz, who also drove in the morning, was the designated driver for qualifying practice, a 1-hour segment in late afternoon, and the 25-year-old Swissman progressively got closer to the front, climbing up to P6 by his second run. In the final stages, rain made its way to the track and virtually neutralised the action. Prema ORLEN Team thus gained access to the Hyperpole session which will decide the top-six starting order for each class tomorrow, Thursday, June 9th, at 20:00.

The 90th edition of the legendary twice-around-the-clock classic will start at 16:00 on Saturday.

#9 - Louis Delétraz
"Today the position was not the main objective, it was Hyperpole, which would have been a super start for the team. They really deserved to achieve this on their first time in Le Mans for working so hard all year so far. We are in Hyperpole, just P6, but tomorrow it will be game on, and it will be the most important time!"
