It's finally decision time for PREMA in the 2022 European Le Mans Series. The Italian squad will contest the sixth and final round of the year at Portimão this weekend, and laying with a consistent margin at the top of the championship table, the team is looking to maximize the result. The spectacular Portuguese venue, close to the Atlantic shores of the Algarve region, will be a perfect setting for the challenge, with its ups and downs and highly-technical blind corners that require skills and confidence.
The team is coming from its fourth podium finish of 2022 in the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, after having achieved three wins at Paul Ricard, Imola, and Barcelona. Back in Belgium, 25-year-old Swissman Louis Delétraz came close to wrapping up the title to complete a race-long comeback and showed front-running pace all year. Fellow 25-year-old Ferdinand Habsburg also starred this season. The Austrian provided plenty of excitement by slicing his way through the field with aggressive runs.
Juan Manuel Correa will be back on track after making his Endurance racing debut. The 23-year-old Ecuadorian-American showed promise right away, increasing his rhythm and delivering a fast and trouble-free drive. Correa will be competing at Portimão for the first time but will rely on a valuable preseason testing run and on two experience crewmates.
To secure the title, PREMA needs two points, regardless of how the closest competitors will fare in qualifying or the race.
Rene Rosin - Team Principal
"It's amazing to reach the completion of our first ELMS racing experience, especially one that has been so rewarding. We are in a challenging position, so close yet so far, and we are willing to put up our best effort throughout the weekend. We need to stay focused, maximize our finish, and deliver the performance level we have already shown many times this season."
