PREMA Racing heads to Mugello to contest Italian F4 finale

R07 - Mugello - Italian F4 Race Preview

The Italian Formula 4 Championship is set for its 2022 finale and, coming to Mugello, PREMA is determined to repeat the outstanding results achieved one week ago in the ADAC championship where it achieved the driver, rookie, and team titles at the end of a highly-competitive run.

Coming to Mugello, Andrea Kimi Antonelli headlining PREMA's six-car line-up. The Italian got one pole and one win in the previous Italian event at Monza, and coming to another Formula 1-grade venue, he is looking to seal the deal, needing only a few points to clinch the driver title.

Race winner and ADAC rookie champion Rafael Camâra, on the other hand, is targeting second place which would give PREMA a stunning 1-2 result. The Brazilian led the series in its opening stages and is definitely capable of bringing in more high-profile runs. At Monza, the cancellation of race 3 due to adverse weather prevented him from taking off from pole and going to the attack, which will add even more motivation for him to do well in the finale.

Charlie Wurz is on a positive run of momentum. After securing pole position for race 1 at Monza, the Austrian dominated the field to take his first European win, moving up to P4 in the championship standings.

Australian James Wharton brought home a podium in the ADAC finale but struggled in the two races held at Monza despite having shown pace. The same goes for Conrad Laursen, the Dane having scored a third place in the Italian series at Red Bull Ring but then falling victim to incidents at the temple of speed.

The latest addition to the PREMA stable, Ugo Ugochukwu, is coming from the UK F4 series where he recently wrapped up the season with P3 overall and the rookie title. The 15-year-old American will continue his approach to the challenging Italian Championship, again featuring more than 40 starters at the sweeping up-and-down circuit.

Angelo Rosin - Team Principal

"We are heading to Mugello expecting a positive weekend, and we are looking forward to the three races here. We know the circuit well, as we had good results in the past, but it's always a challenging one, especially with a large and competitive field like this year. We have goals to achieve and we hope to clinch them as soon as possible, while we also want all our drivers to share great satisfactions. With six cars, it's a huge commitment for us but we proved we can deliver even with a full field, so we are focused and prepared for the weekend ahead."
