PREMA Racing leads group in Monte Carlo Qualifying

R03 Monte Carlo - FIA Formula 3 Qualifying Report

PREMA Racing secured a front-row start and put up a strong qualifying showing at Monte Carlo as the FIA Formula 3 Championship got underway at the world’s most famous street course.

With the drivers split into two groups according to race numbers to minimize traffic issues, Dino Beganovic went on track in Group A and produced a dominant effort to lead the even-numbered field. The Ferrari Driver Academy Swede will take off from the front row in P2 as his time was beaten during the Group 2 session.

Paul Aron and Zak O’Sullivan qualified in the second group and the Estonian was a leading contender. He eventually settled for P2 at the last lap. He will start Race 2 from the inside of row 2. O’Sullivan was unable to find the right gap while putting together his fastest lap and ended up seventh. He will start both races from P13.

#1  PAUL ARON

“I think it was a solid session. Finishing P2, I think we were definitely missing a bit compared to Minì as he was really on it. We can’t be too disappointed with that though. It’s the best qualifying of the year for me and the team, and we are second and third on the grid. From my side, I’m quite happy with the results because last year I had a super tough time here and I was struggling a bit yesterday. I was able to pull myself together and put together a solid qualifying. Now we have to continue this way in the races and finish it off scoring good points.”

#2 DINO BEGANOVIC

"I’m really happy with P1 in the group, which was the target. Historically, we predicted that the second group was going to be faster and it did. We did what we could and that’s what matters, all the focus is on starting in P2 on Sunday. I’m really happy to get back on track this way after the break after a tough weekend in Melbourne for me and the team. I’m happy to bring them this result with the best qualifying of the season in Monaco, where we won last year."

#3 ZAK O'SULLIVAN

"A bit of a tricky session from my side, I ended up P7 in group and 13th overall. Obviously not Ideal but we hope we can make some progress in the races and hopefully pick up some good points."
