R06 Barcelona - FIA Formula 2 Race Preview
PREMA Racing will be back on track for the FIA Formula 2 Championship again this weekend as the series comes to the classic destination of Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The Championship will run on the new configuration of the Spanish circuit, featuring a fast corner in the third sector replacing the previous chicane.
PREMA is looking forward to the event after two incredibly successful weekends at Baku and Monte Carlo. After the dominant performance by British rookie Ollie Bearman, who dominated all sessions in Azerbaijan, Frederik Vesti captured his second feature race win in the Principality, cruising to the Driver Championship lead. The Dane has already enjoyed some success in Barcelona, where he achieved his maiden F2 podium last year. For Bearman, it will be the chance to finally race on a track where he had some mileage after a rollercoaster ride at Monte Carlo where he still completed a great recovery at the end of the weekend.
The weekend at Barcelona might bring weather variability to the table, with uncertain forecasts for race weekend. In terms of tyres, Pirelli will bring the P Zero White hard as the Prime solution, while the P Zero Red softs will be the options.
René Rosin - Team Principal
"We are definitely in a positive moment and we want to keep riding that momentum into Barcelona. We feel we are in a very good spot, but we know how fast momentum can shift so, as we always say, never rely on the past. We keep pushing, team and drivers. I'm very interested to see how Ollie and Frederik will perform on a track where we have recently experienced a three-day test. For sure, with so much known, we will need perfect execution on every detail, and maximize every variable, in order to prevail."
