R04 Spa - Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine Race Preview

PREMA Racing kicks off busy mid season stint at Spa-Francorchamps

R04 Spa - Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine Race Preview

The Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine will be back on track for its fourth round of the year this weekend at Spa-Francorchamps, one of its most iconic destinations and a supporting act for the 24 Hours of Spa GT event at the legendary Belgian circuit.

PREMA Racing is coming from a tough weekend at Hungaroring but with seven rounds still to go, the team is aware that there is still a long way ahead, especially with many events that can make a difference from the technical and driving point of view. At Spa-Francorchamps, race craft and execution are capital aspects, and the team is determined to make a step in its progression.

Andrea Kimi Antonelli is currently the highest-placed PREMA driver in points as he is sitting second, and the 16-year-old Italian is willing to fight at the front on a track where he won five times in Formula 4 out of six starts.

Lorenzo Fluxá captured his first podium of the year in Hungary. The Spaniard showed great form, and on the most fascinating circuit of the championship, he will chase a further top achievement as he sits fifth, not far from P4, in the driver championship.

Rafael Camara will aim to make a key move as well. The Ferrari Driver Academy-supported Brazilian also had a victorious personal history at Spa-Francorchamps in the past, and having experienced tough luck so far this season, he is looking for a deserved rebound to get back in the top fight.

The weekend will be running on a unique format, with free testing and the first practice session scheduled for Wednesday. The two qualifying sessions will be on Thursday and Friday respectively. Race 1 will be on Friday as well, while Race 2 will sign off the weekend on Saturday morning.

Rene Rosin - Team Principal
"This championship is incredibly challenging, and with such a high competitive level, we need to be perfect to catch up towards the lead. The one at Hungaroring was not an easy weekend, but we showed pace and brought home a podium finish. In addition, we are still very early in the season, with seven rounds still to go. As the year progresses, execution becomes an increasingly pivotal aspect especially with so many races coming in just a short time, so we are looking to stay as focused and committed as possible."
