R05 Spielberg - FIA Formula 3 Qualifying Report

PREMA Racing has positive team performance in qualifying

R05 Spielberg - FIA Formula 3 Qualifying Report

PREMA Racing put up a strong showing in qualifying for the fifth round of the FIA Formula 3 Championship at Spielberg. As always at the Austrian venue, the pack was extremely close, and six cars ended up covered by just one-tenth of a second.

Dino Beganovic will start the Feature Race in P2, having ended up only four thousands of a second away from pole. In a session where traffic was a major concern, the Swede stayed in the fight for P1 for the whole session, as did teammate Paul Aron.

The Estonian was initially credited with the pole at the end of the session, although, upon further review, he was deprived of that lap due to a track limits violation. His second-fastest lap was good enough for P4, a positive result for him.

Zak O'Sullivan ended up in sixth place. The 18-year-old British racer confirmed the team's potential and secured a good spot looking at both races although he will have to serve a three-spot grid drop tomorrow.

#1 - Paul Aron
"It was a very good session today here at Red Bull Ring. The team gave us a very good car and we had a lot of potential. We put it on pole, but sadly our lap got deleted. It's a shame because I was out by millimeters, but rules are rules. In the end, we are P4, which is definitely a disappointment considering how much pace we had and how good of a job the team did, but we are still at a circuit where it is possible to overtake. We are going from the second row and there's still a lot to play for."

#2 - Dino Beganovic
“Not a bad result in the end. It has been a messy qualifying session, but in the end, we can be satisfied with where we are. We are there, fighting for the front. From the beginning of the session, we had a very good car, all the way to the end, but we couldn’t get the pole by a very small margin. It was mainly on my side, but it’s still a good starting position.”

#3 - Zak O’Sullivan
“We got P6 in qualifying, a super close session in the end, quite hectic with the traffic, but I managed to get a lap in that was good for P6. Not a bad starting position for both the sprint and the feature race, and we are looking to capitalize on that to score some good points.”
