R09 Hungaroring - FIA Formula 2 Race Preview

From Silverstone to Hungaroring, the FIA Formula 2 Championship and PREMA Racing will line up for another classic destination. A twisty and technical up-and-down venue in the Budapest countryside, Hungaroring will be home to round 9 of 2023, as the series continues its busy summer stint.

Not the easiest place for overtaking, the circuit needs precise driving, and great execution since qualifying is paramount to get good starting positions. In addition, temperatures in the summer can be quite high making for a physically-intensive weekend.

Lining up as the championship leader, and with four wins to his name, Frederik Vesti hopes for more luck coming from the previous event, where he was crashed out of contention in the feature race after winning race 1. Having had good results in the past there, he is focused on maximizing his weekend.

Ollie Bearman has raced only once at Hungaroring but has a podium under his belt there. With his three wins, is now running fourth in driver points despite a tough weekend last time at his home racetrack.

The tyre choice will be on the softer side. Pirelli has selected the P Zero Yellow medium tyre as the prime choice and P Zero Red soft as the option.

René Rosin - Team Principal

"Even if we didn't have the best luck at Silverstone, we showed that we have the potential to make the most out of the situation and bring home the maximum amount of points. In Hungaroring, quick execution is set to be even more important than usual, because qualifying has a high impact over the weekend. We are confident we have what we need to continue our positive season and we look forward to the coming event"
