Aron hands PREMA Racing Sprint Race podium finish

R08 Spa-Francorchamps - FIA Formula 3 Race 1 Report

PREMA Racing grabbed a podium finish at Spa-Francorchamps as the FIA Formula 3 Championship got underway in the Belgian Grand Prix weekend. The race started with all cars on slick tyres and on a damp track and was impacted by three safety-car situations, one of which carried drivers through the end as rain began to fall again.

Starting from the front row in difficult conditions, Paul Aron delivered his fourth podium finish of the season by ending the Sprint Race in P3. The Estonian was able to stay away from attrition and make good restarts.

Zak O'Sullivan crossed the finish line in P4, while Dino Beganovic completed the race in P9. Both the Brit and the Swede were later penalized due to contacts, slipping out of the points zone.

#1 - Paul Aron
"Sprint race finished, and it was a tricky one with mixed conditions. We raced on slick tyres but we started already with half track being damp, and towards the end of the race it started raining again. We ended up P3, which is a bit disappointing given that we were starting second, and we had a good shot. At the start, we got a bit unlucky getting boxed out in turn one."

#2 - Dino Beganovic
"Disappointing race 1 in really tricky conditions out there, with the slick tyres on a wet track. I had an okay start and was still in the fight among the front runners. Then I put myself in the wrong positions and lost places. It was just from my side, the car was feeling good. We are looking good for tomorrow, I just need to get ready for it."

#3 - Zak O'Sullivan
"P4 in the sprint race, quite a tricky race. The track was very wet while we were on slicks, so I was just surviving the opening laps. Then we got three safety cars and I managed to pick up some places in the restarts. In the end, the safety car went to the finish, so we did only one or two laps racing. Still, we managed to gain some ground, the pace was strong, a good step for tomorrow."
