PREMA Racing lands in Texas for F1 Academy finale
PREMA Racing is set to wrap up the inaugural F1 Academy season this weekend at Circuit of the Americas in Texas, USA. The series will run as a supporting act to the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix near the state capital of Austin. The state-of-the-art circuit is reviewed as one of the world's most outstanding, with a layout featuring impressive corners, elevation changes, and scenery. It is also one of the fan favorites, with crowds in excess of 400,000.
The team, competing for the first time in the USA, is lining up at the venue with Marta Garcia holding a solid lead in the Driver Championship. The 23-year-old Spaniard claimed four poles and six wins this year including two in the previous round at Circuit Paul Ricard. Her consistency was impressive as she has a total of 10 podiums to her credit and a 48-point advantage.
Lining up with seventh place in points, Bianca Bustamante experienced a challenging weekend in France. However, the 18-year-old from the Philippines had shown great pace in the previous round at Monza and is looking for a bounce back to her best form. British-Canadian Chloe Chong is looking forward to making a step to positively wrap up her first competitive season after coming back to the points zone at Paul Ricard.
Rene Rosin - Team Principal
"The F1 Academy series has been really interesting so far and having the chance to race in such a unique frame like the US Grand Prix makes the inaugural season even more impressive. Racing at COTA will also be a great opportunity for the drivers. We showed we could be very competitive and achieve our goals as we got wins with Garcia and Bustamante, while we are also delighted for the progress made by Chong at here very debut in single-seaters. We look forward to continuing the job in America and keep competing at the very front end of the pack."
