Lindblad, PREMA secure stellar Feature Race win

R06 Barcelona - FIA Formula 3 Race 2 Report

Arvid Lindblad put together a dominant performance today in Barcelona to take his second win of the FIA Formula 3 season for PREMA Racing. The Red Bull Junior driver started from the front row and waited for his chance to make a move in the opening laps. He then set a high pace and gained a considerable margin to become the youngest Feature Race winner in the series.

Both Dino Beganovic and Gabriele Minì had to deal with traffic after their difficult qualifying, starting from outside the top 10. Running in the pack, tire management became incredibly tricky and prevented them from making a full recovery.

Beganovic still secured another points finish in P8, making the most out of the situation, while an issue caused Minì to drop positions and he had to settle for P21. The Italian is now third in the championship, but still quite close to the lead as the team moves to Red Bull Ring.

#1  DINO BEGANOVIC

“Four points in the Feature Race. I’m quite happy with the race, I had a good start again and made some positions like yesterday. We made a change from Race 1 and the feeling was much better today. We were just staying in the pack and the front left struggled a bit more than what we wanted. I pushed maybe a bit too hard to gain positions at the beginning, and we had to suffer for the rest of the laps. A tough race, but we are taking the points and the learnings from this weekend. We will try to apply what we learned in Spielberg and Silverstone. I’m sure that this was a big step forward, and that we can do a good job from now.”

#2  GABRIELE MINÌ

“A weekend to forget. Today in Race 2 the start was okay, and I gained one spot in the first lap. Then we stayed there, close to the points. After that, we were struggling a lot but we now know what the issue was. This was not our pace, and the goal is to wait and bounce back to show what our real pace is.”

#3  ARVID LINDBLAD

“Really good race today. I got a good start and held on to second. I managed the first couple of laps and then I felt I had a bit of a pace advantage, so I committed to making the move on lap 5. I got in the lead and tried to break the DRS, trying to manage the tyres as best I could to make sure I had a strong pace all throughout. The car was really good and I was able to do what I wanted. I built a healthy lead, so even when the rain came at the end, I was able to take it easy and bring it home. I’m really grateful to the team for the car and I’m really excited for the next race.”
