PREMA keeps up FIA F3 effort with Spielberg event
PREMA Racing will continue its mid-season stint at the Spielberg circuit, as the Austrian venue will kick off the second half of the 2024 FIA Formula 3 Season. With a double-sided weekend now in the books in Barcelona, the team is lining up on a friendly track that handed it many positive results in the past.
Gabriele Minì did not score any points in Spain but is still third in the drivers' standings with only a 12-point deficit. On the other hand, teammate Arvid Lindblad had a stellar weekend at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, taking his maiden Feature Race win and becoming the first repeat winner of the season. Dino Beganovic is not far away in P5, having claimed two points finishes back in Spain with good recovery drives.
Perched within the Styrian hills in Austria, the Red Bull Ring has considerable elevation changes and hard-braking to hard-accelerating situations. The tyre choice made by series supplier Pirelli will be on the softer side compared to Spain. The cars will use the P-Zero Red Soft tyres. Similarly to Barcelona, with so much racing done at the track in the past, the pack is expected to be covered by thin margins, so preparation and the qualifying effort will be pivotal before heading into the two fast-paced races.
RENÉ ROSIN - Team Principal
"The championship is shaping up to be an even more competitive one than usual, with many different winners and a lot of unpredictability. It is important to perform, of course, but maximizing even the trickiest weekends also makes the difference in terms of consistency. All our drivers scored wins so far, so the potential is there, and we have had positive results at Spielberg in the past. We look forward to making the most out of the two races."
