R05 Mugello - FRECA Race Preview

PREMA Racing back to home soil in FRECA at Mugello

R05 Mugello - FRECA Race Preview

The Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine will be running on Italian soil this weekend as PREMA Racing prepares to compete not far from home at Mugello Circuit. One of the most complete and challenging facilities in the country, Mugello features tough high-speed corners coupled with elevation changes in a technical and physical layout.

PREMA will field its three-car operation with the goal of continuing the positive season experienced so far and making further gains across the lineup. Headlining the team with P1 in the driver Championship, Rafael Camara will be back to the Tuscan circuit, where he achieved a positive podium finish in the series last year. Coming from his maiden podium finish at Hungaroring, American Ugo Ugochukwu is expecting additional positive steps, considering the outstanding results achieved at the venue in Formula 4, two wins and four second places in 2023 alone.

James Wharton also achieved a win at Mugello in his F4 days and having already two podiums to his credit in his rookie FRECA season, he has all the potential needed for a repeat.

PREMA Racing is currently leading the Team Championship with a considerable margin and as Mugello will wrap up the first half of the season, the team is hoping to carry the momentum into the remainder of the year.

RENÉ ROSIN - Team Principal

"We are about to reach the halfway point of the season and we think we are in a good spot in terms of the championship situation and the general potential showed on track. We know that no mistakes are allowed and a single misstep can radically change the season's situation, but we approach the weekend aware of what we are capable of. Camara is at the top of the championship, and we are also delighted to see Wharton and Ugochukwu battle for podiums as well. We hope to get even more of that at Mugello!"
